I maybe the only person in the world who can hear one thing and think another.(Much like Pinky in Piny and the Brain.)
And for some reason I hooked up a Beatles song and the health care debate.
I'm strange that way.
I started thinking about all this health care stuff and all its arguments and suddenly realized that I had heard all this before. Sometime long ago in a song....
He's a real nowhere man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.
Congress are you listening? Can you hear the music? Why are you not dancing with the one who brung you to this dance? We the People elected you. And you the Congress are ignoring us. You say great things but the devil in the disguise of Lobbyist is whispering to you and you want to dance his dance. We all know what happens to those who dance with the Devil.
The plans for health care that you are currently looking at are not for the People. Your Nowhere plans are for the Industry. The same Industry that we want to get away from not cater to. We simply want another plan to go to so that our homes are not taken away because we are sick. A plan were we don’t have to gamble on having good health or bet that we never have an accident.
We need some place else to go to. This Nowhere Land of no insurance is killing us, slowly, one at a time.
Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
You know, I’ve been duped before. Probably lots of times! But once I get the facts I either change my mind or change my "friends" or change the TV show I’m watching. I like to get as many different views as possible. But once I have the facts, I stop promoting the other "views". Those views are dead to me.
I understand that the "deathers" are afraid of what "might happen". But it’s just not true. As my husband the teacher once said, "I can teach it to you again, but I can’t make you understand it." Willful misunderstanding is not a good thing.
These people who object to having a "socialized" health care have no idea what they are saying or where they are going. The views that they spout are not their own. They get these views from others who want We the People not to have a public health insurance at all. Maybe those "deathers" need to look up the reasons why we have Medicaid/Medicare in the first place!
Nowhere Man please listen,
You don't know what you're missing,
Nowhere Man,the world is at your command!
Now that we have the internets, the world is at our command! We can search on nearly any subject that is on the "tubes" and read news that is happening across the world in seconds or even while the news is happening. This is very powerful, and most people won’t use it. It’s not that they can’t use it, they won’t use it or only go to certain places and Nowhere else.
"The Price of Freedom is Vigilance". How quickly we forgot. Vigilance is not only in soldiering or protecting, but also in knowing what exactly is going on. Like being a soldier, if you don’t know who the true enemy is you’re in trouble!! If you don’t know who said what or where you got your information from, or who told "them" what to tell you, you’re in trouble!!
Use the world that is at your command and dig deeper than the headlines! No matter what your favorite talking head says, find out for your self! Even Reagan said, "Trust, but verify!"
He's as blind as he can be,
Just sees what he wants to see,
Nowhere Man can you see me at all?
But this is where we end up. Blind because we want to be blind. We don’t want to think, we don’t want to act. We want others to do that for us. And this is why we are in the place where we are. The "others" have counted on us being blind and have used that to their advantage. We no longer have the luxury of seeing just what we want to see. We must see the whole picture, the whole nation as one.
Now the talking heads are stating that people aren’t really without health insurance, why it’s only a very small number. Well in Texas it’s around 25%, on the border with Mexico from El Paso to Harlingen the numbers are even higher at around 40%. But in Washington D.C., Texas is as far away as the Man in the Moon and counts just as much.
They don’t see us at all. They don’t want to see us. Blind as they can be. They would rather that we all die in poverty as though it is all our fault, than to see us have health care. How "Christian" of them. This is the story of the Good Samaritan, and we are that Samaritan deciding whether or not to help that sick man lying in the ditch. What would Jesus do? And what did he say to do?
Nowhere Man, don't worry,
Take your time, don't hurry,
Leave it all till somebody else
lends you a hand!
During the Bush administration my biggest curse on Republicans was, "May they need the services that they cut." That still holds true. The only time the Congress Critters get something pass is if it affects them personally. Then it’s quick and swift and maybe even good. But when it affects those who do not have access to them as the Lobbyist do, then "it can wait".
Congress, and even the Lobbyist, believe that they will never need the care that they debating. They say things like: We have money. We are taken care of. What could possibly happen to us that could change that?
Life is fickle. As an actor once said, "Be kind to everyone on your way to the top. Those are the same people you will see on your way down."
We the People elected you. We can un-elect you next time.
(Chorus, to which I preach)
Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere Man please listen,
you don't know what your missing
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command!
He's a real Nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody!
~Lyrics and music by Paul McCarthy and John Lennon.
Even President Obama must stop being the Nowhere Man. We the People didn’t put him in office to make deals with the industries. We put him in office to make deals for us, deals that will benefit the People and not the Party or the Lobbyist. His plans must benefit We the People or his plans are Nowhere and for Nobody.
Compromise is not going to work. Bipartisanship will not happen. You are the President of the United States! The world is at your command! Make your plans for somebodies of this nation, not the nobodies of the industries! Look at us! Listen to us!
We the People are the Somebodies! We are listening. We are not blind. We are not Nowhere. We want a health care plan! We want it before we die.
